Social media is a very important part of a business or a brand’s strategy. You want to make sure that you get it right… and not get off on the wrong foot with mistakes. What should you NOT do?

While Get Plus Followers can help you get back on track, here are some things that you should avoid doing:

Posting Too Much WIthout Considering Quality

This is the whole problem of “quantity over quality” issue that people have. Sure, your breezy Tweet about a certain issue may get some chuckles, but constantly spamming things that are not relevant to your brand is not a good thing. Carefully consider the things that you put out and ask yourself each time – what is it that I trying to achieve here with this post?

Instead, limit yourself to the number of times you post a day. That will let you hone in on what works and what doesn’t. The overall quality of your social media posts should greatly improve.

Spreading Yourself Out Over Too Many Platforms

There are a lot of sites out there… and not all of them need your presence on them. It’s better to be playing to an audience of hundreds of thousands than one of tens. Devoting your time to a way smaller audience can be a waste of time and money… especially if there is no growth.

You need to consider where you should put your efforts into and where the bulk of your audience will lie. It’s better to focus on those areas and make sure to put the best content rather than trying to hit all the social media sites. If you do that, then you run the very real risk that you will have sub-part content on all of them.

Putting the Same Content on All the Sites

Instagram is different from Facebook, which has different content than Twitter. LinkedIn has different people on it than the others. So it makes no sense to try to make a “one size fits all” post for all of them.

Instead, spend extra time customizing those posts to fit those particular sites. The people there will likely recognize the difference… and react positively. Otherwise, they may view the cookie-cutter posts as laziness.

This is just a short list of strategies you can adopt. Social media can be an adventure, with many twists and turns. By doing at least these three things, you can improve your chances of success.
